35 audition for the 2017 Cadence Lypso competition

Preparations for the 2017 NCCU Cadence Lypso Show will intensify this Saturday, July 15, 2017, with the holding of auditions to select the ten artistes who will showcase their songs on the big stage on the night of November 2, 2017.

Thirty-five Cadence singers have registered for the competition and will all have a chance on Saturday to impress the panel of judges who will pay close attention to lyrics, melody, creativity and rendition.

The 35 artistes comprise eight females and 27 males and are a mix of experienced regulars , returnees, and first timers. Regulars include Cletus “Halibut” Joseph, the 2013 Cadence Lypso Monarch, Ramadin “Kalpha P” Phillip, John Mark and Pierre Labassierre.

Steve O Williams, who has participated in every Cadence Lypso Show from its inception in 2012, is back again trying to book a spot in the finals. Returnees include Shirley “Lady S” Charles, who certainly takes the title of “most consistent female Cadence Lypso competitor”.

Among the new comers are two rising young stars, Phael Lander and Cassim Birmingham, who have been making waves in the calypso, folk, pop and rhythm and blue arenas.

The ten successful artistes will attempt to dethrone three time Cadence Monarch, Anton “White Fayrie” Joseph at the Pottersville Savannah on November 2, 2017 and win an exciting array of cash and other prizes.
