15th. ANNIVERSARY WORLD RIVERS DAY:Month of the Rivers, Adopt-A-River

August  31, 2020- After successfully excavating over 200 baby sea turtles during the months of May and June, The Nature Enhancement Team (NET) and the World Rivers Day Committee Inc. are well poised to host World Rivers Day, carded for Sunday, September 27, 2020.

World Rivers Day was designated by the United Nations in 2005, to be observed every last Sunday in September. It was first observed in Dominica in 2008, spearheaded by Waitukubuli Ecological Foundation (WEF). To date, it is the biggest River celebration including millions of people from 70 countries.

This year’s International Theme is: “Our Watersheds in Our Communities”.

In this era of Covid-19, those responsible for installing and maintaining our water systems in Dominica will be given special recognition.

Among those partnering for this year’s World Rivers Day are: Rosalie Bay Resort, 3 Rivers Rosalie Forest Echo Lodge,  Discover Dominica Authorities, DOWASCO (D/ca Water and Sewage Company), Forestry, Echo 78, Rotary Club, etc.

One and all are invited and encouraged to participate in this World River Festival. Join in a National Beach and River clean-up, Tree planting and educational programs.
